I am a licensed bilingual (Spanish/English) psychologist who has a doctoral degree in clinical psychology and two years as postdoctoral fellow trained in the area of assessment and psychological evaluations. I graduated in 2003 and now work as a private practitioner. For 17 years I supervised and trained doctoral students in the area of therapy and assessment. I provide individual and couple’s therapy services as well as forensic evaluations related to immigration cases.
I am a passionate of my work and believe in the importance to use emotions as a catalyst for change. Understanding and working with thoughts that elicit emotions and how emotions work in the mind and body is important to me. I believe in a collaborative approach between me an my client(s) to create a roadmap for a healthy transformation that leads to symptom management and healing.
My values are respect, empathy, and being alerted of my own biases. My intention is to devote my attention to the person's narrative to assist the individual or couple to explore venues to improve their emotional well-being. In my interventions, I incorporate the individual’s cultural and environmental experiences while being culturally humble.
The first Therapy appointment: Consists in me hearing a brief synopsis of your narrative and a chance for you to get to know me to explore if you feel comfortable in sharing your life with me.
The first and consequent Evaluation sessions: I will gather the information needed to answer the referral question. After hearing the reported events, I do test selection and administer the tests that I consider appropriate to address your presented case. Once all the information and test data is gathered, a final report will be submitted to your lawyer, the court, or you.
Please be aware that I work by appointment only in person or via Telehealth.
